Email Surveys
An email survey's advantages are:
almost complete elimination of paper, reduced postage, mail-out, and data entry costs
obtaining the data more quickly
Disadvantages are
more limited visual stimulation and interaction capabilities
more difficult skip patterns to follow
loss of anonymity
Web Surveys
Web survey advantages are:
obtaining the data more quickly
giving respondents the flexibility to complete the survey when they choose
Disadvantages are the:
lack of control over who responds (making generalizations to the population impossible)
elimination of people who do not have a computer (or access to one) and/or connection to the Internet
Mixed-mode Surveys
This method will involve a combination of the above survey modes.
