Houck & Associates offers traditional and online marketing services Surveying is a less expensive way to gain method in-depth information is needed from your customers, members or target audiences (or any other group).

We offer six modes of surveying:

Telephone Surveys

Advantages for a telephone survey are the ability to:
  obtain data more quickly
  probe and clarify answers
  ask more complex questions
  better control of response rates
  control questions being answered

The disadvantages are higher:
  expenses than a mail-out surveys
  potential interviewer bias
  possible inconvenience to the participant
  less anonymity


Email Surveys

  An email survey's advantages are:
  almost complete elimination of paper, reduced postage, mail-out, and data entry costs
  obtaining the data more quickly

Disadvantages are
  more limited visual stimulation and interaction capabilities
  more difficult skip patterns to follow
  loss of anonymity


Faxed Surveys

In this situation the advantages are:
  containing costs
  obtaining data more quickly,
  giving respondents the flexibility to complete the survey at a time that suits them

Disadvantages are the:
  inability to probe or clarify answers
  potentially low response rates
  non-response to certain questions


Web Surveys

Web survey advantages are:
  obtaining the data more quickly
  giving respondents the flexibility to complete the survey when they choose

Disadvantages are the:
  lack of control over who responds (making generalizations to the population impossible)
  elimination of people who do not have a computer (or access to one) and/or connection to the Internet


Mail-Out Surveys

Advantages for the mail-out approach are the:
  ability to contain costs
  giving respondents the flexibility to complete the survey at a time they designate
  Self-administration affords anonymity as well as no interviewer bias

Disadvantages are the:
  time to administer/take the survey
  inability to probe or clarify answers
  potentially low response rates
  non-response to certain questions


Mixed-mode Surveys

This method will involve a combination of any or all of the above survey modes.
