  Web Site Layout & Navigation:
  Planning and/or Assessment

Poor information / data delivery may be one of the most overlooked Web site shortcomings. According to a previous study, 68 percent of Internet users were seeking one particular thing each time they surfed the Web.

This research only reinforces the importance of careful structured site content and a user-friendly, high-intuitive navigational system.

A Web site must be structured and organized in an easy-to-navigate, logical format that is clearly identified. Visitors must be able to quickly find what they seek or, in one click they move to a competitor's site.

Navigation & Layout Planning

Upon gaining a clear understanding of your organization's target audiences / markets and site objectives, Houck & Associates will analyze content needs and goals, and then draft the Web site layout and navigational system.

Once the main sections of the site are determined, an architectural plan will be developed to guide the construction of the Web site. This plan will be furnished on paper or an electonic file that can be viewed or printed out. This allows your organization to easily conceptualize the structure and "flow" of content.

If the site is to be developed over a period of time, the site map / layout plan will enable an incremental build to be planned. Long-range planning lessens the chances that current work will be redone or eliminated later.

As with brick and mortar structures, a well-planned "blue-print" is critical to excellent Web site design and construction. If proper planning is done during this phase, the other phases of site development should proceed smoothly.

Navigation & Layout Analysis  (Existing Web site)

Upon gaining a clear understanding of your organization's target audiences / markets, Houck & Associates will thoroughly analyze the navigational system and flow of informational content.

Long-range planning lessens the chances that finished work will later be eliminated and/or redone. This will also assist with related financial budgeting and reduce the chances of wasted expenditures.
