Overview of the Process
Typically the main stages include:

- Establish guidelines for Web site administration, content, work
process, etc.
- Identify the main objectives for the site.
- Outline goals for the Web site
- Develop information architecture
- Storyboard pages and links.
- Select the presentation style.
- Acquire, develop or repurpose text for the Web pages / files.
- Select and prepare page graphics.
- Plan interactive elements.
- Create a value-adding strategy.
- If customer service and support is to be offered, create a
strategy and determine the formats it will take.
- Write the HTML code and adjunct programming for the pages; create
sectional templates, design and/or developed database(s) if applicable.
- Usability (Alpha) testing by individuals within each target audience.
- Proof the work for errors, possible misinterpretations of the presentation,
potential legal matters, and other things requiring correction.
- Pages are uploaded to the host server/computer for online viewing via the Web.
- Usability (Beta) testing by individuals from target audiences, in-house staff and select others.
- Announce & launch the Web site & begin PR campaign.
- Index and list the site in search engine and directory services databases.
